The Research Centre Jülich (FZJ) is one of the largest research facilities in Germany and Europe. It deals with an impressive range of fascinating research among those is plasma-physics, quantum-computing and more. In order to get to know the work of the scientists there, the excursion working group of the student council I/1 organizes an excursion to the FZJ for students of the faculty 1 or faculty 9.

Date and arrival

• Wednesday 27 May 2026
• Meeting point: 10:00 a.m. directly at the visitor entrance of the FZJ. Please be on time.
• Arrival to the meeting point: Participants are responsible for arranging their own transportation. It is possible to travel by public transport using the Deutschlandticket. Buses can enter the research center area. At the barrier (bus stop "Forschungszentrum Feuerwehr"), security will check who still needs a visitor pass. Those participants will go to the visitor entrance building, show their ID or passport, and receive their visitor badge.
• Alternative: you can take the bus 220 with us at 7:59 a.m. from Aachen Bushof , H. 4.

• Important: Due to the size of the research centre, some parts of the tour will include short bicycle rides between the institutes. The necessary bicycles for all registered participants will be provided free of charge by FZJ, so there is no need to bring your own bicycle.
• The tour ends at 16:00 p.m.

Fees and meals

Participation and travel are free of charge. Lunch is available at the FZJ canteen.

As there are only a limited number of spots available, a €15 deposit is required at registration, which will be refunded to you on site. You can use it to purchase a canteen guest card to pay for your lunch. Any remaining balance on the card will be refunded individually on site afterwards.
Consuming self-brought food is explicitly not possible.

We need your certificate of enrollment to verify that you belong to the faculty 1 or 9.
With the e-mail address you provided, we will send you all further information and stay in touch.
We exclusively need the other data provided for visitor registration at the FZJ. With this data you can be identified at the visitor entrance. Please bring your identity card or passport with you.

Booking and cancellation

If you successfully book a ticket, you will receive an order confirmation at the email address you provided after receipt of the participation fee. You do not need to print this out or take it with you. This email also includes a link that allows you to edit or cancel your order.
If you are unable to attend the excursion, please cancel your order as early as possible to allow others to participate.
